Students will find this site useful to learn about historical and current figures in social studies, science, literature and the arts. Each person's listing contains links to text background, as well as photos and videos when available. Bios on many people include video shorts from A&E feature shows made about them.
Another helpful feature is that each bio includes a list of profile connections to the life stories of other well-known people in some way related to this person's biography.
I've used several of the shorts (3-5 min) videos on presidents with my civics students. They have a good alphabetic collection of them that include some feature full-length bios on the more recent or more famous ones. Other groups I've used include inventors, explorers, and Nobel prize winners. Highly recommend this collection.
