Students can learn the science of forces, motion and sports with theses videos from NBC Learn, in partnership with the National Science Foundations.  They illustrate how science and engineering are used to help athletes perform at the world-class level.  Some of the sports units include lesson plans for middle and high school teachers.

Current series include the Summer Olympics 2012, the Winter Olympic Games 2010, NHL Hockey, and NHL Football.  Learn how the velocity and angle of take off impacts an athlete's ability to jump the farthest.  See how hockey players battling it out on the ice exemplify Newton's Three Laws of Motion.  Explore the projectile motion of an NFL football.  Learn how the placement of a figure skater's arms, head and legs affect her ability to spin faster and faster.
