thisissand.com is an interactive digital sandbox and two-dimensional sand sculpting landscape tool. Kids can use it to create Clemens-style sand paintings, mandalas and so on. Just as a real world sandbox, the one on thisissand.com can be smoothed out and re-sculpted again time after time. You can save your artwork to the gallery or print it out. There are some amazingly creative images in the gallery.
Instructions for using thisissand: The main page of thisissand is a blank gray canvas.
Left click on your mouse to drop sand onto the bottom of your screen.
Press the "C" key to see the colors. Left click to select a color. Then hold the left click down to drop as much sand as you want. You can drag the mouse to sprinkle the sand across the screen. Holding the mouse in one place will create hills and mountains.
Press "C" again to change colors as often as you like. Press the right and left arrow keys to switch to another color you've already selected. Do this while you hold the mouse click down in one place and watch the magic happen!
To save your artwork, click on the small gray square in the upper corner of the screen and click on Submit your piece. Put in your name and give your artwork a name. Write down what you put in to be able to search for it in the gallery. You can submit each piece of artwork only once.
Press "E" to erase your piece and start over again.
