Biology of Plants

From site:  Plants are alive, just like people and animals. How do we know this? Living things all do certain things:

  • They grow and die.
  • They need energy, nutrients, air, and water.
  • They produce young.
  • They are made up of cells.
  • They react to what’s around them.

Photosynthesis: How Life Keeps Going

Learn about photosynthesis at the base of the food chain.  The website consists of illustrated text divided into several parts.  The introduction is Part 1.

Part 2 describes the food chain and the role of primary producers, primary consumers, secondary consumers, and decomposers.

Part 3 describes the basics of photosynthesis. Part 4 discusses energy pyramids.

Part 5 describes autotrophic plants that use carbon dioxide, plants that are semiparasitc, plants that are insectivores, and holoparasitic plants.

There is much more.  The site is a bit difficult to navigate.  But there’s lots of useful material for students researching plants.
